Mario Mode — SM64 in Spider-Man 2
Runs Super Mario 64's movement, health and combat directly inside Marvel's Spider-Man 2's New York.
What it does
Pressing M replaces Spider-Man with Mario running the actual Super Mario 64 movement code through libsm64, with his model, animations, voice and sounds loaded from the player's own ROM. The creator documents Mario colliding with the game's physics world, footsteps by surface material, punches, kicks, dives and ground pounds damaging enemies through the game's own damage system, enemies knocking Mario back and draining his health meter, the full SM64 moveset including caps and BLJs, an F8 settings/cheats menu, pedestrian photo poses and photo-mode support. Mario is injected into Spider-Man 2's Direct3D 12 G-buffer so the game's own lighting, shadows and post-processing apply to him.
How it works
Overstrike .script mod embedding libsm64, integrated with Spider-Man 2's D3D12 rendering, physics collision and damage systems
Requirements & limitations
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC, Overstrike with .script support, the .NET 7 Desktop Runtime required by Overstrike, and a user-owned US Super Mario 64 ROM. The creator documents launching the mod through Overstrike rather than directly through Steam/Epic.
