Minecraft in GTA V
Runs real Minecraft movement, building, mobs and combat inside GTA V Story Mode.
What it does
Minecraft Java runs beside GTA V rather than being reimplemented. GTA drives Minecraft's camera and ground, Minecraft exports colour/depth and gameplay events, and the GTA plugin depth-composites the result while mirroring building, explosions, projectiles and mob interactions.
How it works
Fabric guest + ScriptHookV/ReShade GTA host linked by local WebSocket and shared-memory frame transport
Requirements & limitations
Windows 10/11 with WSL (the scripts are bash and batch); GTA V Legacy (Steam, story mode; Enhanced is not supported); ScriptHookV with its ASI loader (fetched by gta/fetchdeps.sh, tied to the supported game build, built against 3889); ReShade 6.8.0 with add-on support loaded via the ASI loader; Minecraft Java 26.3 with Fabric Loader 0.19.5+ and Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3; JDK 25; MSVC Build Tools; Windows Python with websockets. The primary example is explicitly offline/story-mode only.

Evidence limits
On 2026-10-12 I re-read the universal-modder README, MIT LICENSE and commit history (active, latest commit 2026-10-11, no tagged release); the repository still lists examples/minecraft-gta5-passthrough as 'real Minecraft inside GTA V story mode'. No play-test.
