Retromod 2.0 (and GNES / GEMU) — ckosmic's Garry's Mod emulators
A lineage of in-game console emulators for Garry's Mod, from GNES (2016) to the RetroArch-based Retromod 2.0.
What it does
ckosmic built a series of Garry's Mod addons for playing retro console games on in-game screens: GNES (2016), which ran the JSNES emulator and was billed as the first gaming-system emulator in Garry's Mod; GEMU (2017), a multi-system emulator for NES, SNES, Game Boy, GBA and Genesis; the original Retromod (2018); and Retromod 2.0 (2021), which uses RetroArch as its backend. Retromod 2.0 is the current addon; the earlier ones are kept as history.
How it works
Garry's Mod addons rendering emulators (JSNES, then RetroArch) onto in-game screen entities
Requirements & limitations
Garry's Mod on Windows; Retromod 2.0 uses RetroArch as its backend and needs the user's own ROMs (see its Workshop installation instructions).
